Sorry about the lack of posts lately. This taper couldn't have come at a better time. Work has ramped up to completely consume my life right now and I haven't had any time for running. Not even a quick 30 minute run. I finally had time on my lunch break yesterday to tackle a nice run in our "fall" weather here. I was excited to lace up my shoes and get outside. My legs have been antsy! However, once I started running - they were mad! It had been a full week since my last run and I could tell. :(
My calves were extremely sore and no amount of walking or stretching was helping. I tried to take it as a nice, slow run, but even that hurt. It was everything I had in me to do 3 miles. I made it back up to the gym in my office building and hit the foam roller. I have no time to get a massage between now and the marathon, so rolling will have to do. I feel kind of defeated. I was feeling pretty empowered after my awesome 16 miler, but this time off has really taken a toll on me. I'm hoping that the rolling and stretching will be enough to complete my marathon on Sunday.
Ready or not, San Fran here we come!
