The Running that Isn't

I have a confession: I jumped way to early on my announcement to run the Route 66 Tulsa half marathon. As it always does, life got in the way. It's been almost 4 weeks since my marathon and I have still yet to lace up my running shoes. I want to get back out there, but somehow I keep telling myself I'll do it tomorrow. Tomorrow never seems to get here. Anyways, I couldn't have gone to Tulsa anyway unless I wanted to go alone. Hubby tore his ACL last week playing soccer so getting on a plane and standing around watching me run is the last things he wants to do right now. Boo on him. But, he'll be an awesome spectator during his recovery in January/February/March when I'm racing almost every weekend!

  1. You did a full marathon, you shouldn't be apologizing for not doing another long race. You are awesome and sometimes long breaks are needed!

  2. 4 weeks is just fine for a recovery after a marathon and probably exactly what you needed! Try getting out for a walk, instead of making it about a run. Slowly your body will tell you it's ready again

  3. I totally agree with Amanda! It takes weeks to fully recover from a marathon...don't be so hard on yourself:) I ran my marathon the first week of October and I finally felt like I was back to myself last week. Hang in there, you will get there!

I hope that you have a fantastic weekend!

  4. Thanks guys! All my friends that ran the race with me (but the Half) are already back to running and I kinda felt like the slacker! I miss running, but I also don't want to go back out too soon. Maybe this weekend if the weather holds up.
